I want to be able to have satellite radio in 3 different cars, but I will not buy up to 3 antennas / radio.

You can put the antenna on the dashboard and continue to receive the satellite signal. However, these can be opened at different times of the signal loss and the silence breaks. There are already enough obstacles to their satellite signal while driving, usually appropriate to delete.
You need a radio useful to have most of the time, although the time to move the antenna to be implemented as far forward as possible. If you have a windshield is more vertical than horizontal, you will not have much luck with this though.
